Who should be the beneficiary this week?

In the midst of rising electricity and gas prices, 12 million French people will receive this year the “energy check” which is financial assistance ranging from 100 to 200 euros. Here are the departments concerned by this aid this week.

Since 2018, an energy voucher has been granted to the poorest households, with the aim of helping them pay expenses related to natural gas, electricity or fuel oil, domestic wood, petroleum biomass or other fuels used for heating and hot water production.

This aid will be reinforced in 2022 due to the decline in the purchasing power of the French, caused, among other things, by the rise in energy prices. Although it is generally reserved for less than 5.8 million people, the extension of the energy check will affect a total of 12 million French people this year.

This exceptional check of 100 to 200 euros is issued automatically to people who are entitled to it, without any prior procedure. The check will be paid in installments until January 27, 2023. As the government specifies, this payment is subject to the department of residence of the eligible persons.

This week from January 16 to 20, 2023, here are the departments concerned: Morbihan, Bas-Rhin (excluding Strasbourg), Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, Gironde (4th shipment), Landes, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Ariège, Aveyron, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Lot, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn-et-Garonne. Please note that the time between the sending of the energy vouchers and their acceptance at the beneficiary’s home generally varies from two to four days.

Energy check: Am I going to get it?

This unique aid, which was put in place by the government from December 2022, affects all households whose reference tax per consumption unit (RFR/UC) does not exceed 17,400 euros. The threshold is set at 200 euros for households benefiting from the “basic” energy voucher, at 100 euros for those whose tax reference is less than or equal to 10,800 euros per consumption unit and at 100 euros if it is between 10,800 euros and 17,400 euros.

It should be noted that, as the government specifies, “beneficiaries of the energy check for 2022 and earlier who have decided to automatically allocate the energy check they received to their supplier (pre-allocation) do not receive their check energy exclusive to paper format.
