Microsoft is working on a new sound setting for Windows 11 to configure the volume of each application.
When it’s not announcing the layoff of 10,000 people, or multi-billion dollar profits, Microsoft can enhance its operating system with much-requested features.
Internet users have spotted a hidden novelty in the latest preview versions of Windows 11 for the Insider program. The management of the volume of applications would finally be modernized, like what the EarTrumpet application offered.
Adjust the volume of your applications in two clicks
On build 25281 for Windows 11, the hidden feature ” SoundOptions/42106010 reveals a new volume mixer. It allows you to quickly adjust the volume level of each game or application independently, and quickly select the output device.
This is not the first time that Microsoft has offered this function. This was one of the important improvements of Windows 7. However, over the versions, Microsoft had not modernized its interface and applications from the Microsoft Store did not appear in the tool for a while.
Here it is a new menu integrating all the applications and allowing a quick adjustment while respecting the interface of Windows 11. This is exactly what the free and popular application EarTrumpet has offered since the beginnings of Windows 10.
For the moment this new feature has not yet been formalized by Microsoft, knowing that even the new features documented in its Dev build announcements are likely never to be deployed in a stable version.
We must therefore remain hopeful that this development will succeed. This is the kind of change that makes everyday PC use easier.
