A photo in the form of a final farewell. The royal family published this Monday evening, after the official funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, a last image of the sovereign to pay her a final tribute.
This image was posted on the Royal Family’s official Twitter account. We see the monarch in the Scottish moorland setting of Balmoral, with a cane and a scarf on her head.
“In loving memory of Her Majesty the Queen”
A caption accompanies the photo, a sentence taken from Shakespeare’s play Hamlet in scene 2 of act V: “May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest”, which can be translated as “may the angels sing your rest”.
The Royal Family adds, “In loving memory of Her Majesty The Queen. 1926-2022.” Monday, hundreds of thousands of Britons attended the funeral of the sovereign in London, the last stage of a national mourning which lasted 12 days.
