The popularity of Emmanuel Macron and Elisabeth Borne down

According to the latest Ifop poll for the JDD, the head of state and his Prime Minister are losing popularity this month, in part because of their pension reform project.

65% of French people are dissatisfied with the actions of their President of the Republic, ie 3 points more in one month, the latest Ifop poll for the Journal du Dimanche revealed on Saturday.

According to the polling institute, this is Emmanuel Macron’s lowest level of popularity since February 2020. For her part, Elisabeth Borne records 64% dissatisfaction, against 59% last December.

The executive couple pays directly for the announcement of the government’s pension reform project. Last Wednesday, the “L’Opinion en direct” poll, conducted by the Elabe Institute for BFMTV, revealed that 66% of French people were opposed to the reform.

This opposition is felt among the first concerned over time by this reform: only 31% of 50-64 year olds are satisfied with the President, according to Ifop, against 40% for those over 65 for example. Its popularity even drops by 10 points among 25-34 year olds to reach 29%.

As for socio-professional categories, the JDD reveals that Emmanuel Macron only satisfies 23% of the unemployed, a loss of 15 points, or even 37% of executives, a loss of 14 points.
