Michel-Edouard Leclerc announces operations in its service stations: “Yes, we want to make fuel cheaper”

Michel-Edouard Leclerc does not hide his intention to make operations on fuel prices but wants to be sure not to create shortages.

The boss of the Leclerc stores has announced that he wants to make operations on fuel prices. Michel-Edouard Leclerc was invited this Wednesday morning on the set of BFMTV. “Yes, we want to make fuel cheaper and we are going to carry out operations”, he said, before explaining that this process could not be put in place overnight.

He notably returned to the operation carried out by Total which led to a shortage in many stations last fall during the exceptional discount.

“Technically today, I mustn’t press the fuel attractiveness button too much, otherwise we’ll disrupt the supply circuits”he stressed, acknowledging that he feared “the risk of shortage” and want “to be responsible”.

The boss of the Leclerc stores explained: “We made +50% sales in our service stations last week, our tanks were empty even before the demonstration (Thursday January 19, Ed) and then afterwards we sold nothing”.

The social context in the context of the mobilization against the pension reform could reveal new supply difficulties. “We do not know if deposits will be blocked”he acknowledged, specifying “our depots are full but it empties in a week”.
