After 4 years at PSG, Thilo Kehrer left for West Ham where he signed a 4-year contract, plus 2 years as an option for around €12m. At 26, the versatile defender has a second experience abroad, he who played for Schalke before joining France. Pushed towards the exit, the German concedes that a discussion with his coach, Hansi Flick, changed the situation. The latter recommended that he leave PSG to have more playing time for the World Cup.
“I had an extremely successful period there (at PSG), I won many titles. This summer, it was time to take a new step and take on a new challenge. We (him and Flick) of course talked about what is important in this season, which is special with the World Cup in the middle. He told me what he wanted players to do in general.
