Eating nuts every day, the recipe for staying healthy?

The benefits of nuts should not be underestimated. Real treasures for health, they would reduce blood pressure, weight gain and, therefore, the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Health is lived on a daily basis and small gestures often make it possible to have a body in better shape. This is sort of the conclusion of a new study whose results were published in the journal Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases. According to this research, eating a handful of nuts a day could prevent you from getting sick. This would protect you from many risks.

Scientists at the University of Minnesota, in charge of this study, discovered the miraculous potential benefits of walnuts after monitoring the diets of 3,300 people for more than 25 years and giving them several health checkups. The results showed that in addition to reducing blood pressure, eating it would also reduce weight gain and, therefore, the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Results that need to be confirmed

As claimed by scientists, such benefits could be linked to the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid found in walnuts. But also all the other nutrients they contain, including protein, fiber and magnesium, which promote heart health.

For So-Yun Yi, a doctoral student in public health, this study supports claims that walnuts make “part of a healthy diet”. However, these results are observational and clinical trials should be conducted to support and confirm them.
