alongside Guillaume Canet, Marion Cotillard reveals what their son Marcel did not like in the new Asterix and Obelix

Asterix and Obelix, The Middle Kingdom is certainly one of the most anticipated films of 2023. This time it is Guillaume Canet, who films the adventures of the most famous of the Gauls, and who embodies him on the screen alongside his accomplice Gilles Lellouche, who plays Obelix. But the film also brings together a host of stars. Angèle, Jonathan Cohen, Orelsan, Matthieu Chedid, McFly and Carlito, Franck Gastambide, José Garcia, Issa Doumbia, Audrey Lamy, Ramzy Bédia, Philippe Katerine, Manu Payet, Vincent Desagnat, Laura Felpin, Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Biglo and Oli are thus credited in the credits of this feature film. Marion Cotillard succeeds Monica Bellucci in the role of Cleopatra. A choice of character that earned him some criticism.

Guillaume Canet dedicated his film to his children

Part of the film crew was invited to the set of Daily to promote it. Yann Barthès recalled that it was dedicated to the two children of the director, Louise, 5 years old and Marcel, 11 years old. “They liked it very much”, pointed out their father proudly. The little boy has also discovered a first version of the film exclusively. “The first week, I did a rush screening for the team. There were several children (including Marcel – and to hear them laugh, it was a wonderful moment for me. I said to myself, that’s it , I also make a film for children. And that’s really great”, indicated Guillaume Canet. The host then asked Marion Cotillard if her children liked her in the role of Cleopatra. “I’ll tell this story, come on”, said the actress to her companion, visibly a little embarrassed. “I always have a little trouble talking about my children. But my son comes to see me one day in my office and says to me: ‘I would like to tell you something’. He’s going to hate me saying that.” sMarion Cotillard is interrupted. What Guillaume Canet immediately confirmed.

But it was too late for her not to finish her story. “He looks C at you, go ahead”, reassured her Ambre Chalumeau, at the head of a program on Asterix after Daily. “Don’t be mad at me! Pardon my cat”, she said again, before launching into the end of her story. “He said to me: ‘I would like to tell you something, but I’m afraid it will upset you.’ I said to him: ‘But my cat, you can tell me anything.’ you don’t think you’re good in dad’s movie'”, she said, causing amazement on the set. “Somehow, I’m a little relieved. I tell him: ‘It’s your opinion, no problem'”, she reassured him. Unfortunately, she received an identical story from her daughter. She understood afterwards what had displeased them so much in her role. “They couldn’t stand my kissing Vincent Cassel on the mouth”, she explained. “I’m not that bad, I think.” she confided with a laugh.
